About Craig
A More Direct and Engaging Therapist
Education & Training
I am a more direct and engaging therapist. I have spent three decades helping people navigate life's most difficult transitions, leadership roles in board rooms across healthcare and community mental health, and in a private psychotherapy practice devoted to individualized, depth-oriented care. I sat mindfully in my first session in 1996.
Before dedicating my work exclusively to private practice, I served in a variety of executive and clinical leadership positions, including Executive Director of a pioneering Bay Area community mental health organization that was the outgrowth of the work of Abraham Maslow and Carl Jung; clinical manager overseeing three counties of mental health services; graduate mental health curriculum chair and university instructor; consultant to healthcare systems, law enforcement and professional organizations. Earlier in my career I worked in the capacity of a mental health program auditor, diagnostician, hospital emergency roles and across diverse clinical environments. These experiences shaped both my clinical judgment and appreciation for the resilience of the people I have been sincerely privileged to serve. I learn from everyone I sit with.
My education reflects a lifelong interest in understanding both the science and the deeper dimensions of human experience. I earned my bachelor's degree in Contemplative Psychology from The Naropa Institute, my master's degree in Counseling Psychology, and my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, where my dissertation research explored the integration of near-death experiences (NDE) on personality development that led to state and national speaking platforms. My first memory as a toddler was a NDE that deeply influenced my life and career choices. I completed my doctoral research on the impact of profound early life experiences on personality development. Over the years I have continued advanced training in attachment theory, trauma treatment, Eastern mindfulness traditions, clinical hypnosis and Depth/Jungian psychology, integrating these perspectives into a unique approach that is practical, psychologically grounded, and tailored to each individual.
Today, I intentionally maintain a focused private practice serving adults throughout California. Many of my clients are professionals, healthcare providers, business owners, executives, creatives, and individuals navigating complex personal or professional transitions. While every person's story is unique, they often share a common desire: not simply to feel better, but to understand themselves more deeply and create lasting congruent change.
Outside therapy and consulting times, I continue to write and develop an integrative model of psychotherapy based on my decades of experience that explores the relationship between the meaningful integration of parts of our personality, awareness, psychological healing, and lasting profound transformation. My hope is that this work contributes not only to the people I meet in therapy, but also to the broader conversation about what helps individuals—and ultimately communities—live with greater wisdom, compassion, and resilience.
